West travels to meet east

Many thanks to Outpost Arts who organised a meeting with the Stranraer Development Trust to travel east and meet with us and to exchange experiences and ideas. With hugely engaging presentations from Tarras Valley Nature Reserve and Creation Mill CIC, Langholm and a lovely lunch at Eskdale Hotel, Langholm put it’s best foot forward. As a parting gift, OPA presented the delegates with a tablecloth which was created by Deirdre Nelson as part of the Upland partnership project ‘Langholm Made’. Working with OPA and The Langholm Initiative, Deirdre was commissioned to create new work inspired by local textile archives in collaboration with the community. Following workshops with local children, their drawings were used to create the tablecloth’s design which was influenced by the textile archive’s pattern books.
